The crafty *cough poor* ruins

Need some terrain and can't afford the GW stuff? As you can see below I have created a ghetto ruins. I used lots of extra sprue pieces as well as some Magic the Gathering lands as panels and platforms. I used tooth picks for a ladder. I will use this as two story ruins. A few other pieces I used was a few credit cards they send you promo in the mail, aka junk. So I thriftily used them as plastic card. Once I prime and paint this it will look great. Good luck and I hope I inspired more (thrifty) ideas from you all!

Getting Krootive

So I created a custom Kroot using the base of the Reaper Brand Mini Purple Worm.

Here made a Kroot lying down by just cutting and shaving pieces with a hobby knife. He is laying on the bottom portion of the worm model. I primed it with Krylon paint and primer combo. Very useful stuff and affordable.

I painted the base with a gray mixture that I made with black and white acrylic paint. I dry brushed it with white which gave a very boulder/rocky look. I left the Kroot skin color the same as the paint/primer and dry brushed it with a lighter green, giving it a mossy look. I mixed the same green with white giving me the highlights for the hair. I added custom tribal war paint to each of the Kroots faces.

I dipped the model in my wash solution I had mentioned in my earlier blog. It darkens the colors as well as giving it a shine that I wanted. I used some flack/grass to put a small bush onto the base to give it some more detail.

If you where wondering what I did with the Worm model, I used it for my Nurgle Defiler that i'm currently in progress with. Yes, that is a cannon from the Necrons ghost ark for his right arm. I will go over this model once it has been completed.
