The Typhus Process

After cleaning all the bits off of him I needed to figure out my colors. I am what you would call a budget gamer. I can't afford GW paints nor any others for that matter. I buy acrylic paint from Walmart their about $.79 and so far they work great.

After I primed him white I used a few mixtures of greens, blacks and yellows to get the desired color. After that I dipped him in a special wash that I created myself using: Black Indian ink, floor polish, and water. I let the wash dry over night and started to and the highlights the next day.

I started getting creative with green stuff. I am not artsy what soever so I just kind of winged it after watching a lot of green stuff how to from YouTube.

I wanted to make Typhus slimy and nasty so I tested a technique using some epoxy, green Indian ink, and yellow paint. (I found everything from Hobby Lobby.) The picture does not do it justice. The mixture came out perfect and made a nice green ooze base. I also painted the flesh pustule with various skin/organ tones. The Man Reaper I painted a flat rust color.

I used the same mixture for the ooze on his Man Reaper. I glued a small piece of fishing line connecting the sides. I patiently used the epoxy mix and rubbed it back and forth as it kept dripping off. Finally it started to dry and it became more manageable and easier to mold. I also ran the clear epoxy over the model in various places to give a wet gooey effect. Note: I let each epoxy dry overnight.

I am an amateur, and I have no prior painting nor art skill before this. I just wanted to give a step by step for painting Typhus. I want everyone to know that you don't have to be an expert for your models to turn out well. I will keep you updated with my finished product.
